In August, architecture firms continued to face soft business conditions, posting an AIA Architecture Billings Index® (ABI) score of 47.2. Although the share of firms reporting declining billings eased slightly from July, the overall trend remained downward.

“The Manufacturing PMI® registered 54.6 percent in August, 1 percentage point below the July figure of 55.6 percent. The overall economy continued in expansion for the 22nd month in a row.
